ID Asbestos Wins ARCA Gold for Fourth Consecutive Year
We are thrilled to share that we have once again been awarded the ARCA Gold Site Audit Award for 2024/25, marking the fourth year in a row that we have won this accreditation for our unwavering commitment to safety and professionalism.
"This award is one of the most respected accolades in the asbestos removal industry and achieving it for the fourth consecutive year highlights our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism across all our sites. The consistency, dedication, and expertise of our incredible team have been recognised once again, and we could not be prouder of the ID Asbestos family."
What is the ARCA Gold Site Audit Award?
The Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA) is the leading trade body for licensed asbestos removal companies in the UK. As ARCA members, our removal team undergoes rigorous training, participates in unannounced site audits, and is continuously monitored to ensure we maintain the highest standards of health and safety, environmental compliance, and professional performance. ID Asbestos is also accredited with other bodies, including the HSE, and holds ISO 9001 and 14001, ensuring all our projects meet recognised industry standards.
The ARCA Gold Site Audit Award recognises asbestos removal companies that consistently maintain high standards on site. Each year, ARCA carries out unannounced site audits across all member companies to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
To qualify, companies must achieve an average grade of B or higher across all audits, with no prohibition notices or prosecutions for asbestos work during the qualifying period. Grades of A or B are required for “non-live” works. This rigorous process ensures that only companies with proven expertise and professionalism receive the Gold Award. We are incredibly proud to announce that we achieved an overall Grade A for the full audit, reflecting strong performance across all assessed areas.
If you are wondering how to know if an asbestos removal company is trustworthy, the ARCA Gold Award provides a clear indicator. Similarly, if you want to check whether a company is licensed to remove asbestos, being an accredited ARCA member with a Gold Award shows that we meet and exceed minimum HSE regulations and recognised industry standards.
Being awarded the ARCA Gold Site Audit Award confirms that we are a fully licensed, competent, and reliable asbestos contractor, giving our customers confidence that every project will be completed safely and to the highest standard.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if an asbestos removal company is trustworthy?
- Be licensed by the HSE if working on higher-risk asbestos‑containing materials.
- Provide proof of training or accreditation, for instance, many reputable companies have operatives trained by ARCA, and you can verify ARCA training certificates using ARCA’s online Certificate Checker.
- Follow strict safety procedures, carry out risk assessments, and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Be transparent about their work classification (whether the job is licensable or not) and how they plan to manage asbestos safely.
- Be willing to give references or past project examples and ideally belong to a trade body (like ARCA) that promotes professional standards.
How to check if someone is licensed to remove asbestos?
- Licensable work must only be carried out by a company listed on the official register of current licensed asbestos contractors. You can verify this via the CONIAC register of HSE-licensed asbestos removal contractors.
- Check whether they are a member of a recognised trade body like ARCA, which represents licensed asbestos removal contractors.
What is a clean air certificate?
- A clean air certificate is the document issued after a UKAS-accredited analyst carries out a 4-Stage Clearance Air Test following notifiable (UKAS-accredited) asbestos removal works. This test confirms that the area meets the legal requirements for safe re-occupation, and the certificate provides formal evidence that the space is safe to re-enter.
- For non-licensed asbestos works, a clean air test (often referred to as a reassurance air test) is not legally required, but many clients choose to have one carried out for added peace of mind.
Is non‑licensed asbestos removal safe or legal?
- Yes, non-licensed asbestos removal can be legal, but only for low-risk work as defined under UK regulations.
- For notifiable non-licensed work (NNLW), additional rules apply: the job must be informed (“notified”) to the relevant enforcing authority; health records must be kept; and medical checks must be carried out for workers.
- Even if a licence is not legally required, strict safety controls, risk assessments, and correct training are still mandatory.
- All asbestos waste must be disposed of at a licensed hazardous waste facility, and the contractor should provide a Hazardous Waste Consignment Note as proof of compliant disposal.
